Holidays in Montenegro in 2020 will please you with affordable prices, a warm sun and a variety of entertainment. The ecological reserve of Europe, as travelers called this country, is popular with Russian citizens. The fact is that the climate of this country is largely reminiscent of the Crimean one, however, a high level of service, the azure sea and fine cuisine have determined many to choose Montenegro.
The climate of this country, which gained independence after the collapse of Yugoslavia, allows attracting millions of tourists every year. The best weather is observed on the coast, where real summer reigns from May to October. The average temperature in the summer months in the south of the country varies between 25-32 ºС during the day, and at night the thermometer drops to 18-22 ºС. Somewhat colder in the central regions - in the summer there is an average of 22-28 ºС. The water temperature in the Adriatic Sea in April is 22 ºС, so the swimming season in Montenegro starts early. On the beaches you can sunbathe until the end of October.
In the winter months, the flow of travelers decreases markedly as the temperature drops. On average, from November to March, the thermometer in the country is at around 5-15 ºС, rarely dropping to 0 ºС. Frosts are as rare as in Turkey or Greece, but going to Montenegro for the New Year 2020, do not forget about warm things. Sunglasses are also useful, especially if you plan to visit the local ski resorts (Durmitor, Kolasin, Zabljak) located in the foothills of the Alps. In the summer, there are a lot of mosquitoes, so in addition to sunblock, take an insect repellent.
How to get there?
In order for a vacation in Montenegro in 2020 not to be overshadowed by unforeseen events, it is initially worth thinking about how to get to the desired resort. Montenegro has only two international airports:
Several charters depart from Moscow daily to Montenegro (for example, Montenegro Airlines and Transaero). Airfare in summer is 150-200 €, in winter the price drops to 80-120 €. Check if the local airport fee, which is 15 €, is included in the price of the ticket.
Near the airports there are bus stops and railway stations. You can get to them by taxi (it will cost 20 €), after which in about 1-2 hours there will be all the popular beach resorts (Bar, Kotor, Sutomor, Budva, etc.). The price of a bus or train ticket is from 3 to 15 €.

The Adriatic coast in Montenegro can be divided into three territories:
- Budva Riviera;
- Bay of Kotor;
- Barsky shore.
It offers tourists several hundreds of different beaches - from sandy to pebble, the length of which exceeds 73 km. Artificial embankments are located in resorts such as Tivat, Igalo, Herceg Novi. Small pebbles are scattered throughout almost the entire Budva Riviera, stones - in the Bar. Near the resort of Ulcinj there is a unique beach with fine black sand, which fascinates with its beauty.
Most of the sea swimming areas in Montenegro are free, but recently private hotels have begun to redeem a certain area of the coast, for the entrance to which they charge 2-4 € per person. It’s not necessary to pay, because each resort has enough free beaches with developed infrastructure. Since most of Montenegro's beaches are located in bays surrounded by cliffs, strong winds here are rare. As a result, waves on the coast hardly reach half a meter in height, and clear water allows you to see the seabed at a depth of several tens of meters.
